***Palghar SIR: 71.84% Voter Forms Digitised; Over 1.90 Lakh Records Flagged for Anomalies***
Palghar, August 19: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Palghar district has achieved 71.84 per cent progress in the digitisation of Enumeration Forms (EFs), according to information released by the District Election Officer, Palghar.
Of the district's total 23,76,053 voters, Enumeration Forms of 17,07,057 voters have so far been digitised. During the digitisation process, however, 1,90,562 records, or 11.16 per cent, were found to contain anomalies or discrepancies, making the verification and rectification of such records a key part of the ongoing SIR exercise.
At the same time, EFs of 6,68,996 voters, accounting for 28.16 per cent of the total electorate, remain uncollectable. According to the information available with the District Election Officer, these cases include voters who have been reported deceased, are untraceable or absent, or have permanently shifted from their registered addresses.
The SIR progress varies considerably across the district's six Assembly constituencies.
Vikramgad Assembly constituency has recorded the highest digitisation progress at 91.56 per cent. Out of 3,15,729 voters, EFs of 2,89,091 voters have been digitised. A total of 26,638 EFs remain uncollectable, while 10,517 digitised records have been flagged for anomalies.
In Dahanu, EFs of 2,76,472 voters out of 3,06,639 have been digitised, taking progress to 90.16 per cent. The constituency has 30,167 uncollectable cases and 24,834 records showing anomalies.
In Palghar Assembly constituency, digitisation has been completed for 2,49,518 voters out of 2,98,433, or 83.61 per cent. EFs of 48,915 voters remain uncollectable, while 26,571 records have been found to contain anomalies.
Vasai has recorded 70.21 per cent digitisation, with 2,49,166 EFs completed out of a total electorate of 3,54,908. A total of 1,05,742 cases remain uncollectable and 28,409 records have been flagged for anomalies.
In Boisar, EFs of 2,87,709 voters out of 4,38,287 have been digitised, accounting for 65.64 per cent progress. The constituency has 1,50,578 uncollectable cases and 44,302 anomalous records.
Nalasopara has recorded the lowest digitisation progress in the district at 53.64 per cent. Of its 6,62,057 voters, EFs of 3,55,101 voters have been digitised. It has also recorded the district's highest number of uncollectable cases at 3,06,956, along with the highest number of anomalous records at 55,929.
Overall, the data released through the District Election Officer, Palghar, shows that while digitisation has crossed the 71 per cent mark, the large number of records requiring correction remains a significant issue in the SIR process.
*Who are the voters in the uncollectable category?*
Of the 6,68,996 uncollectable voters, 72,868 have been recorded as deceased. The largest category comprises 4,16,195 voters who are untraceable or absent, while 1,23,482 voters have been found to have permanently shifted.
The district election authorities have clarified that voters whose Enumeration Forms could not be collected will not automatically lose their voting rights. Voters who are actually residing in the concerned Assembly constituency can complete the necessary procedure during the subsequent stages of the revision to retain or have their names included in the electoral roll.
As per the SIR schedule, the draft electoral roll will be published on August 31, 2026. Claims and objections can be filed from August 31 to September 30, 2026. The process of issuing notices, conducting hearings and disposing of claims and objections will continue until October 29, 2026, while the final electoral roll will be published on November 4, 2026.
The District Election Officer, Palghar, has appealed to voters to check the draft electoral roll carefully. Those whose names are missing, or whose name, address or other details contain errors, have been advised to contact the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) or Booth Level Officer (BLO) and complete the necessary procedure.
